About Me
Powers Metal Works,LLC, owned and operated full time by John L. Powers. I have over 41 years of experience in refinishing fine firearms and gunsmithing specializes in manufacturing the highest quality ultra-precision long range hunting rifles. My shop is located in Duson Louisiana, right outside of Lafayette. I am a holder of a Class 7, manufacturing Federal Firearms License. I was a Browning, Remington and Winchester warranted Gunsmith.
My experience stems from years of gun repairs, firearm restoration, trigger/action jobs, custom firearm work, barrel chambering, action blueprinting, barrel threading for adapters/muzzle brakes, recoil pad installation, and TIG welding. Metal finishing services include bluing (rust, hot, charcoal, fire, Belgium), parkerizing, Cerakote finishing, case hardening (bone and wood charcoal). All of the work is done by hand and in house.

The mission of the ACGG is manifold. As an entity, the ACGG will strive to function as a venue for the exchange of ideas concerning their craft and promote public awareness of custom gunmakers and their craft. While promoting the betterment of custom gunmaking we еstablish standards of excellence within the field of custom gunmaking and ethical guidelines to benefit those who create and use custom guns.
